Barbara Lee

Barbara Lee (born July 16, 1946) is the U.S. Representative for California's 13th congressional district, serving East Bay voters from 1998 to 2013 during a time when the region was designated California's 9th congressional district. She is a member of the Democratic Party.

  • In 2014, Lee was one of four representatives—along with Dennis Heck (D-Wash.), Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.)—to sponsor an amendment to the Financial Services appropriations bill preventing the U.S. Treasury Department from spending money to penalize banks providing services to businesses in states where cannabis is legal. The amendment passed with bipartisan support, 231 to 192.[1]
