Location of Nauru

Nauru, officially the Republic of Nauru and formerly known as Pleasant Island, is an island country in Micronesia in the South Pacific. Its nearest neighbour is Banaba Island in Kiribati, 300 km to the east. With 9,378 residents in a 21 km2 area, Nauru is the smallest state in the South Pacific and second smallest state by population in the world, behind only Vatican City.

Cannabis Legislation

Toke of the Town said in April 2014 that Nauru is banning alcohol and legalizing cannabis and that members of the Nauruan Parliament had approved a measure legalizing the sales, cultivation, use and possession of cannabis for adults on the island with a fifteen to four vote.[1] This turned out to be an April Fools' Day joke, and would suggest therefore that weed is illegal in the country.[2]
