Palau, officially the Republic of Palau is an island country located in the western Pacific Ocean. It is geographically part of the larger island group of Micronesia. The country's population of around 21,000 is spread across 250 islands forming the western chain of the Caroline Islands. The islands share maritime boundaries with Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Federated States of Micronesia.
According to the United Nations' 2012 World Drugs Report, the country with the highest level of cannabis use among adults is Palau, with a population of approximately 21000 people where a quarter of the adults use cannabis. The country with the next highest rate of cannabis use is Italy, where - the report says - some 15% of adults use the drug.
